Exactly what works with the network down
Most POS marketing says “works offline” and leaves you to discover the boundary during a rush. Here is ours, stated up front.

The two items at the bottom cannot be solved by any vendor, and you should treat a claim otherwise as a warning sign. A UPI payment is confirmed by the bank, not by the phone in front of you — Fooduru only ever changes an order to paid on a signature-verified webhook from the payment provider, which is the same reason a customer cannot fake a payment screenshot past it.
How Much Does Fooduru Cost for a Food Truck?

- What is the best POS system for a food truck in India?
- For a truck, the deciding feature is almost never the feature list — it is what the software does when the mobile signal drops, because a truck parks where the signal is worst and a queue does not wait. - How long does it actually keep working offline?
- It is designed for a full trading day offline and beyond, not a few minutes of buffer. Two problems that break naive offline modes are solved explicitly: offline tokens carry a per-device prefix so two devices cannot hand two customers the same number, and offline bills draw from a per-device GST invoice series so your numbering stays valid and unduplicated when everything syncs. Ask any vendor advertising offline billing both of those questions specifically — a buffer that reuses token numbers or breaks invoice sequence is worse than none.
- Can customers still pay by UPI when the truck has no signal?
- Not through the app, and no honest vendor can promise otherwise — a UPI payment has to be verified with the bank, and Fooduru only marks an order paid on a signature-verified confirmation from the payment provider, never on the customer's phone claiming success. What keeps working offline is everything on your side: ringing up the order, taking cash, printing the bill and kitchen ticket, and issuing the token. Customers with their own signal can still pay you by UPI directly the way they do today.
- What hardware do I need for a food truck?
- An Android phone or tablet you already own, and optionally a thermal printer. There is no terminal, kiosk or billing machine to buy and no per-device licence, so a second phone as a backup costs nothing in software. If you already have an ESC/POS printer taking 80 mm or 58 mm paper over USB or Bluetooth LE, we pair and test it free. Thermal printing does not work from Apple devices — Safari does not implement the WebUSB and Web Bluetooth standards it relies on — so if you must print, the counter phone needs to be Android.
- Do I need a QR code at all, or can staff just bill?
- Either. Cashier Mode is a staff-operated counter till: tap dishes on a photo grid, take cash or UPI, print, hand over a token. The QR standee is optional on top, and on a truck it earns its place mainly at peak, when customers standing in the queue can order and pay on their own phones while your hands stay on the food. Both paths share one token series and one sales report.
- Does it handle more than one truck?
- Each truck is billed as its own counter on its own plan today, and per-device sales attribution tells you which device took which money. Consolidated multi-outlet reporting across a fleet is not something we do well yet, and a chain running several trucks with central reporting is genuinely better served by a larger platform.
